Heff Communications provides network repair and design services for small to medium size businesses in the North Georgia area from the North Georgia Border to the Macon - Columbus areas.

Heff Communications has been in the complex network design and repair business since we open our doors in 1998. Our engineers have had to stay abreast of the latest technology  regarding firewalls, network architecture and design, and network construction. As our business grew, so did the threat level we faced  from the outside, as well as the complexity of our own designs to meet those threats levels.

Experience:

Our experience level with networks dates back to 1979 when we installed two DMC-11's in two PDP-1170's in Oakland California as an employee of the most innovative and advanced computer companies in the world, Digital Equipment Corporation. We installed the Coaxial cable between the two and started the network and DECnet was up and running. Our original  servers date back to Windows NT 4.0 and Microsoft® Back Office Server 4.5. We progressed through Windows 2000 and are now transitioning to Windows 2003. As our servers transitioned, our internal users transitioned as well from Windows 95, Windows 98, and now run a mix of Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP Professional. So our experience level runs the gamut from a simple Windows 98 environment with 10mb based coaxial cable networks to 100mb Cat 5 network hubs, to today's configurations which include 1000mb Cat 6 cabling using network switches and routers

We have done network design for people who work out of their home (new construction) who do not want to have a possible security breach from a wireless network intrusion. Not to say that wireless networks are insecure, they are not. But as evidenced by the theft of customer credit card data in 2004 from a Home Depot store, they have to be set up properly with the right equipment.
