Heff Communications News:
Google has another modification in
process. Their last adjustment to their search engine was in
June of 2005 and they called it "Jagger". This one
began Just after the 2005 holiday season and is called "BigDaddy".
It was rolled out to one data center on a temporary
basis, taken down every night. But it is more than just a
search results algorithm change. It is a modification to the
entire data center infrastructure, as well as the results
algorithm, as well as how it displays those results. But to
a user, it is transparent. Google now has "BigDaddy"
up full time on two of its data centers and is rolling it
out to the others across the United States, and then the
world! |

What Size Should My Web
Site Be?
First let's discuss
physical screen size. It is one of the biggest errors seen. A web site
should be designed to fit within an 800 by 600 screen. Market research
shows that as of October 2005 that 52% of all users have their screen
size set to 1024 x 768. A full 42% have their screen size set to 800 x 600.
The difference, presumably, is those with newer, larger, or flat screen
monitors and those with older 15", 17", and 19" monitors. 6% of the
Internet viewers are set to something else, which could be older 14" and
15" monitors set to 600 x 480 and those who went wild with larger very
expensive monitors like 21". So who do we design for?

Search Engine Registration
The Art of Search Engine Registration
As little as three years ago I was personally amazed at the number of
people who thought you could come up with a web site, publish to a web
hosting company, and the the world would beat a path to your door and
you could make a good living off it, and maybe even get rich. Some were
not that naive and knew you had to register it with a search engine to be
found. They went to their favorite search engine and registered their
web site. They may have even gone to a few others they were aware of and
registered with them as well.

Basic WEB Design 101
First let's consider who should design your web site.
Almost everyone knows that they now teach basic web design in High
School! Today's teenagers are computer and network savvy. And with the
addition of learning how to use graphic design software like Microsoft's
FrontPage and Macromedia's Dreamweaver in high school, any teenager can
design a web site. We have had several customers come to us with web
sites designed by a neighbor's son or a teenager one of their children
was dating, or some other teen they knew somehow. Many of them build
graphically pleasing
